Worship
God-centered Worship in Spirit and Truth
Christian Worship is more than a matter of style or preference. True worship is to be offered in a manner that pleases God, which is in agreement with His Word. Our form of worship expresses our desire to follow the Bible as the standard of worship (regulatory principle).
But that is not enough. We pray for the presence of Christ through His Spirit in each aspect of worship. It is the Holy Spirit who can prepare us for worship and enliven us to worship God in the beauty of holiness. We use the Trinity Hymnal which includes psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs from the whole history of the church.
Faith Reformed Church practices weekly worship every Lord’s Day, in accordance with the New Testament practice, and in which the reading and preaching of God’s Word are the central elements. The prayers, hymns and offerings of the congregation are necessary responses to God’s Word.
The Scriptures teach us that God seeks those who worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Accordingly, we are called to worship God in an orderly manner, “with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” Worship is to be carried out according to God’s commandments and not according to the commandments of men (Mark 7:7).
